I'm honored to have partnered up with musician, actor, and comedian, Dumbfoundead on these social media announcements promoting his monthly comedy show "Cry Later" that was held at Coffee MCO located in the heart of Koreatown, Los Angeles. Although the shows were open to the public free of charge, donations were accepted for the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Fund in response to the numerous violent attacks and racism experienced by the AAPI community throughout the country. "Cry Later" is a play off "Smile now. Cry Later" which is all about coming together as neighbors, friends and family to appreciate everyone's presence in the moment.
I created each piece using Adobe Illustrator for the layout and Adobe Photoshop to edit the headshot photos. Our objective was to deliver the event info in a simple manner while keeping it fun and enticing. To accomplish this, I limited each layout to two main colors and used two fonts that complemented each other. The text was adjusted according to hierarchy and had to have enough contrast from the background to be legible. I also incorporated the following 5 principles of Gestalt psychology: similarity; proximity; closure; continuity, and order.
Overall, Dumbfoundead loved the designs and was impressed by the quick turnaround times. I had lots of fun working on this project and was introduced to a bunch of hilarious comedians!
